Coach Pops - Richard “Pops” Popper has been playing and coaching rugby since high school in 1979. He was a player-coach for Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, also playing for Carnegie Mellon University, and for men’s teams such as Monmouth Rugby, the Washington Irish and the Los Angeles rugby clubs, facing teams from England, Canada, France and Tonga. His two children, Natalie and “Nick” (Alex) have played rugby for the Ellicott City Express since 2006, where he started coaching in 2014.

Coach Shaun - Shaun played rugby for the St. Mary’s College Men’s Rugby Club. Following post graduate education at American University Washington College of Law (class of 2006), Shaun joined the West Potomac Men's Rugby Club. He is currently father of 2 EC express players currently on the U9 and U11 teams.
Coach Mark - Mark Fletcher has been playing rugby for 26 Years, with 16 years spent in England & 10 years in the USA. Club affiliations include Stow RFC, Chipping Norton RFC, as well as representing Oxfordshire County, England. Mark also enjoyed 10 Years with Chesapeake RFC & Baltimore Brumbies RFC, USA. Has coached with Ellicott Express since 2010 and successfully coached the U-13 to state championship victories in 2012 & 2014.
Coach Stu - Stuart Madden played school, university and club rugby for 25 years in and around the UK. He has been coaching for Ellicott City Express for the past ten years and his three children have played for the club at various times.
Coach “Clatch” - Mike McClatchey started playing rugby at the University of Maryland in the 1980s. He then went to play for the MD Old Boys Club and MD Exiles Men's club, ending his career as a member of a top 16 7s team. Coach Clatch started coaching in 2008 when his son joined the EC Express team. Coach Clatch enjoys creating a positive learning environment for his players and to help them hafve fun, thrive and finish strong!
Coach Bridget - Bridget Oltmanns began playing rugby in 2002 for Mount St. Mary's University during the school year and University of Maryland College Park for Summer 7s. After graduating she coached Mount St. Mary's Women's team for a short period before joining the Frederick Women's Rugby Club. Bridget retired from playing competitive rugby in the summer of 2013, and she joined the coaches of ECX in the summer of 2014.
